Requirements to earn a Passport
To earn your Passport to the Future, you must be in high school, and meet all of the following qualifications:
2.5 or better GPA,
5 or fewer absences for the semester
Changed to No unexcused absences beginning in Spring, 2009
Good school behavioral record (no in or out of school suspensions).
Students who qualify will automatically receive their passport in the semester following each semester in which you qualify.

Other Benefits from your Passport
Students who receive five Passports during their high school career are eligible for one of the eight scholarships that BECA offers every year. Since 1995, BECA has awarded $50,000 in scholarships to 70 multi-year Passport holders from St. Mary’s County.
Passport details and statistics:
Over 75,000 passports have been awarded to students since the 1992, when the Passport to the Future program began. With each Passport earned, students are rewarded for good grades, citizenship and attendance, all required for a Passport.
Passports are awarded to students attending St. Mary's County high schools: Chopticon, Great Mills, Leonardtown, Ryken, Leonard Hall Jr. Naval Academy and Kings Christian Academy High Schools.
