Unrestricted in terms of major or area of study. CA|CH|SM     St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Nursing Scholarship www.smhwecare.com/careers ; 301-475-6017. Applicant must have high school GPA of 3.0 and plan to accept employment at St. Mary’s Hospital for at least two years upon completion of two year nursing degree. This scholarship is offered in conjunction with the CSM nursing program although winner could request to attend another accredited two year nursing school. Application process will involve an essay, letters of reference, and interviews. Award: Full scholarship including tuition, books, uniforms, equipment, and lab fees. Amount: up to $2200 per semester for up to 4 years Deadline: mid March

**St. Mary’s Hospital also offers an Employee Loan/Scholarship program whereby a hospital employee can get financial assistance to achieve certification in any area listed as a Critical Position by the hospital. In return for this assistance, the recipient must agree to employment at the hospital for a pre-determined length of time. Further information is available at the same website.

CA|CH|SM     United Negro College Fund Scholarship Programs  www.uncf.org/forstudent/scholarships.  Merit scholarships from the United Negro College Fund are available to students involved with organizations seeking peaceful social change. Minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Most require that you plan to attend a historically black college or university (HBCU).Amount: varies. Deadline: see website

CC|CH|SM     USDA/1890 National Scholars Program – www.ascr.usda.gov. Applicants must plan to study agriculture, food science, natural resource sciences or related disciplines at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The program provides full tuition, employment, employee benefits, fees, books, use of a laptop, printer, and software while on scholarship, room and board each year for 4 years to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Upon completion of degree, there is an obligation for 1 year of service to the USDA for each year of financial support. CA|CH|SM     U. of Maryland/NAVAIR/CSM Engineering Partnership:email paul.hoffman@navy.mil. Students who complete their first two years at CSM with a B average or better will be admitted as full time students to the aeronautical or mechanical engineering program of the University of Maryland with classes to be taught at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center in California, MD. They will be eligible for participation in a NAWCAD-sponsored cooperative education program locally. The program includes assistance, up to $4900 per semester for tuition and books for up to six semesters. Summer jobs will be available, paying up to $15.75 per hour. Students participating in the cooperative education program will have an obligation of full-time permanent employment as engineers following graduation for a period of three months for each month in the program. CA|CH|SM     Sam Walton Community Scholarship Program – www.walmartstores.com/communitygiving. Applicant must be a graduating senior and plan to continue formal education in the fall after graduation. Recipient must attend accredited 2 or 4 year college or university in the United States, approved by the Wal-Mart Foundation. Wal-Mart offers several additional scholarships to associates and their dependents. Amount: $3000. Deadline: TBA

CA|CH|SM     Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades - 106 S. New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063-5299 or www.williamson.edu/admissions. Men only. Programs available in masonry, carpentry, horticulture, machine tool technology, paint and coatings, power plant. Amount: Attendance is free if you qualify and meet requirements. Deadline: February 28 of junior year

 

 

INFORMATION FOR SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATIONS
The nomination process is as follows:
Write to your Senator in your junior year of high school.
Know the basic requirements.
Take your SAT before applying for nomination. You will generally need a verbal score of 550 or more and a math score of 600 or better.
Maintain high academic standing (at least the upper 40% of your class).
Maintain first-rate medical condition and proper physical aptitude.
Obtain an application from your career center.
Compile and submit a completed application including letters of recommendation, transcript of record, and SAT scores. See your counselor for details.
Watch your deadline. Applications must be postmarked by November 15 and will not be accepted if late.
