The mission of BECA
To build partnerships involving local businesses, the broader community and the school system in order to improve students’ success in school and enhance educational opportunities in St. Mary’s County.
St. Mary’s County has a very good school system that can become a truly great school system. To get there it will take the full support of the everyone in the community to reach this highest level of performance. In an effort to reach this goal BECA has developed programs designed to build education excellence in our community.
BECA’s signature program
Passport to Scholarships
BECA has provided $50,000 in scholarships for students who have earned at least five Passports to the Future in high school. BECA has created a Common Application for Scholarships, making it easier for students to apply for financial aid. Students complete this one form to apply for the BECA, Chamber of Commerce, Cedar Point Federal Credit Union, and other local scholarships. BECA’s website has valuable links to information on many different scholarships and financial aid.
