BECA Common Application for 2012 is now available on this site.

BECA has redesigned the St. Mary's County Common Scholarship Application as an Excel file that students download and complete, then mail and email to BECA.

BECA's Fourth Annual Fundraiser...

will be held on Friday, March 9 at Bowles Farm. Join us for dinner, a live auction with auctioneer Dan Raley, a silent auction and music by Geezer following the event. Money raised goes directly to scholarships for deserving St. Mary's County students.

 

Over 200 People Attend BECA Awards Ceremony.

At BECA's Fifth Annual Scholarship Awards Celebration on Friday, May 13th , 2011, 70 students received scholarships they applied for using BECA's Common Scholarship Application. Some scholarship providers will hold their own, additional awards ceremonies.

About BECA....

BECA is the organization that created and processes the St. Mary's County Common Scholarship Application, which allows students to apply for numerous local scholarships with just one application. Over $1,000,000 in scholarships has been awarded through this application since its inception in 2007. BECA also awards its own scholarships to students. In each of the past two years, BECA awarded twenty, $1,000 scholarships to deserving students. Sine 1995, BECA alone has given more than $140,000 in scholarships.

The mission of the Business, Education, Community Alliance (BECA) is:

To build partnerships involving local businesses, the broader community and the school system in order to improve students’ success in school and enhance educational opportunities in St. Mary’s County.

The organization was founded in 1989 by the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce and the St. Mary’s County Public Schools.

BECA is supported by major employers and educators in our community such as St. Mary’s Hospital, SMECO, Anteon Corporation, Shah Associates, General Dynamics, St. Mary’s County Board of Education, and the College of Southern Maryland.
